A History of the School Buildings

1836
The National Parish School was built by King's College in Fen Road.
1958
A new school was built in Butt Lane (this is the present Key Stage 1 building).
1965
A separate block of three classrooms and a staffroom were added (demolished in 1989).
1970
Another classroom and smaller rooms were added to the present Key Stage 1 building.
1985
There were only 170 pupils; the expansion of Milton Village since then has led to comparable growth in the size of the school and the number of pupils.
1989
A large new building was completed with 6 classrooms, offices, TV room, library, group room and hall together with a new playground. This building replaced the 1965 block.
1990
The Key Stage 1 building was substantially upgraded and had two more classrooms and a TV/music room added.
1994
A group room was added to the Key Stage 1 building for cooking and special needs teaching. In August 1996 the Key Stage 1 play apparatus was added.
1998
A new extension with two classrooms was added to provide 14 classrooms in total and the Key Stage 2 playground was enlarged. The new extension was officially opened in July of that year by the Director of Education.
2002
Every classroom was equipped with an interactive smartboard connected to a PC.
2004
The old swimming pool was replaced with a new one.
2006
The overgrown school pond was cleared, enlarged, re-planted and a wildlife garden created. Foundation classrooms were refurbished and the outside learning area developed for the youngest pupils.
